Renowned sitarist Reshma Srivastava returns to Fairfield on Saturday, May 13 and will be performing a Maharishi Gandharva Veda concert along with local musician David Hurlin at 8 pm in Dalby Hall on MUM campus.

The concert is entitled: CONCERT FOR WORLD PEACE AND PERFECT HEALTH and the music will be themed to generate a blissful and health-creating influence for the individual and for the world.

Concert tickets are $20 (or $15 for full-time MUM or MSAE staff, faculty, and students, or full-time TM teachers, IAA grant recipients, and anyone who is retired and on a fixed income and cannot otherwise afford the concert).

Beach Boys in San Angelo

Beach Boys still having “Fun, Fun, Fun” — and bringing it to San Angelo

… “There was definitely a rivalry between the Beach Boys, Beatles and Rolling Stones,” Mike Love said. “But it wasn’t necessarily a negative thing because we liked each other a lot and pushed each other to be better.”

Love in particular became close to The Beatles after traveling to India to study Transcendental Meditation under the Maharishi. It’s a form of meditation that Love continues to practice.

“It’s definitely enhanced my life and gives me the tools to deal with tension, stress and the tumultuous lifestyle that sometimes comes with being an entertainer.”

Love and Beatle George Harrison, who also became a devotee of the Maharishi, developed a lifelong friendship through the experience.

“George and I celebrated our birthdays in India together,” Love said. “George was a very spiritual guy. I wrote a song about our friendship called ‘Pisces Brothers.’ “…

Sumitra ji has been awarded Padma Shri, one of the highest civilian honours from Government of India. She has earned many high accolades to her career as a singer in India.
