Inner Peace in the Middle East

Middle East Peace Project: University Students Practicing the TM Program.
Sahar Bassam (Student): I feel relaxation, and I have more energy and my mind is so clear. I was really having some problems with my family, I was fighting with my sisters, and now I am more peaceful.
Hadeel Quaod (Student): Really I feel less stress, this is the first thing I found. In my relationship I have more context now, I can speak with people, I can…. as you see me I am so happy now (laughs) and that effects the people around me. I solve my problems better now, that’s really, really effected me.
Hijazi Isaili (Student): It has a positive effect on me, on my behavior, on my health, on my studies. In my study it gets easier for me to understand what the teacher is saying. Also, in my home, when somebody does something to make me angry I don’t [get] angry. I just take it easy. It’s not about what you are saying, just take it easy and solve the problem in an appropriate way.

Transcendental Meditation proved helpful in solving enmity among nations

Nine countries in Latin America are implementing Transcendental Meditation in military and/or educational settings.

In a recent article by Dr. David-Orme-Johnson and Dr. David Leffler in TheAsian about the power of coherence creating groups, both authors conclude: “We are not suggesting that politicians drop what they are doing. They would never be able to do so, nor would that be wise. What we are suggesting is that the military of Israel, or any organization, establish such coherence- creating groups to quickly reduce tensions in the Middle East’s collective consciousness. The military is traditionally the most organized aspect of society and by itself could quickly create such a group. The international classic, Sun Tzu’s Art of War, advises that it is better to win without fighting. A proven technology now exists that takes recourse to the most powerful level of natural law to enable the military to succeed—by preventing the birth of an enemy. Its implementation could be a scientific experiment, using objective measures and independent, outside observers. The predicted outcome is accelerated progress towards a just, equitable, lasting peace.”

Coherence and Peace for Middle East!

This study conducted in the late 1980’s indicates that group practice of the Maharishi Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi programs improved the quality of life in Israel as measured by improvement on an index consisting of reduced crime rate, reduced traffic accidents, reduced fires, the reduced number of war deaths in Lebanon, increases in the national stock market, and improvements in national mood. The chart above shows the strong correspondence between the number of Transcendental Meditation-Sidhi program participants in the group in Jerusalem and a composite index of all the above variables.

This research indicates that it is possible to change the world in a very short time. The public and political leaders should now realize the potential of coherence creating groups which should be founded and established on a permanent basis in all parts of the world – especially in the so-called “hot spots”.
